The Whole School BC certified teachers teach to the BC curriculum, but there are unique differences. The school is multi-age and classes are small (no more than 15 students per teacher). As students learn they role model for each other, help each other, and are supported by other students while receiving lots of individualized instruction.
Competition is discouraged; each student works at their level. Due to the small class sizes, approaches to learning can be inquiry driven - following the collective interest.
With the circle of courage and restorative justice to encourage self-reflection and manage personal conflicts, students have opportunities to work on the big ideas emphasized in the BC curriculum.
The outdoor learning program is teacher led. Every Friday the students are outside adventuring locally. Fantastic!
