Scholarship Donations accepted

The Zack Harvey Memorial Scholarship started giving out money to grade 12 students to support their post-secondary education in Spring 2016.

The Whole School Board of Directors are growing the scholarship fund through targeted fundraisers so that they can continue to give money to young people who once attended the Whole School.  Past successful applicants  include: Maya Green, Shanti Harris, and Hannah Abbey.

This year’s successful applicants include: Conrad Swetland, Talel McBriar, and Alexander McIntyre.  Congratulations!

Deposits to our KSCU Whole School Scholarship Fund Account can be made directly through Kootenay Saving Credit Union South Slocan branch.  Additionally you can send a cheque to:

Student Research Project at The Whole School

The Whole School students are the lucky particpants in Principal, Anniah Lang’s, Masters in Education from UBC West Kootenay Rural Education Program research project.  Anniah is studying student engagement through writing in an outdoor learning environment.  The students focus on writing and language arts in the great outdoors one or two days a week.  Anniah and her students are investigating the connection between the students’ writing enjoyment and their “classroom” environment.  Part of that exploration has included figuring out how to do creative writing while outside: what different tools you need, keeping them dry, adapting to the weather and most of all being a little quieter and noticing what is different.DSC_4407.jpg
